NIGER: The 3N initiative wins the prize for the policy of the future at the global level.

The price of the policy of the future is awarded to Niger through the 3N initiative. In a recent article, Niamey et les 2jours informed you that this policy aimed at overcoming hunger by 2021 in Niger was part of the public policies selected at the global level in the category “Restoration of degraded lands”.

For the Word Future Council, the price initiator, Niger saw an increase in sustainable irrigation (89% of the 125 000 ha projected), recovery of a large part of arable land (218 219 ha, or 83% Target set in 2011), the establishment of 33,800 ha of dunes to protect the infrastructure and the installation of some 88,000 km of firewalls. “Thanks to the 3N initiative, Niger has made significant progress, halving the number of people suffering from hunger since 2011,” it is one of the factors that enabled Niger to win this international distinction .

Other public policies have also been rewarded, such as Ethiopia with the sustainable agricultural industrialization scheme in the Tigray region, China and Brazil.

This year, the World Future Council was organized in collaboration with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
