The council of ministers of 6 September ruled on the value of shea nuts. The price per kilogram is set at 100 CFA francs.

This decision aims at encouraging the actors of the sector, to facilitate the collection, to improve the manufacture and to give financial support to the production and the commercialization. It also tends to improve the processing and storage of almonds in order to improve quality.

For this year 2017, Benin is the third shea exporter in West Africa. Burkina Faso already occupied this place in 2015. For production, the latter is in second place, and at the top of the podium, Nigeria is the winner of the gold medal.

Shea is very popular, it is used in the manufacture of cosmetics, cosmetics or sometimes culinary.

Note that from March 13 to 15, 2017, the 10th International Shea Conference was held in Cotonou, the economic capital, an annual initiative of the World Shea Alliance.
