SENEGAL – Presidential election 2024: Registration of 79 candidates declared

At the end of the application period on Tuesday, December 26, the Caisse de dépôts et de consignations (CDC) registered a total of 79 deposits.

The closing of the submission of applications for the next presidential election took place at midnight on Tuesday. However, the number of declared candidates, initially at 266, fell sharply, Lesoleil reports.

At closing, of the 266 candidates who withdrew the sponsorship forms, only 79 actually showed up to file their files with the CDC.

As a result, most of the candidates who initially expressed their intention to run eventually backtracked.
