The Minister of Culture Walid al-Zaidi was thanked by Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi this Tuesday, October 6, 2020. At issue: his refusal to implement the government’s order to stop all cultural events due to the pandemic covid-19 present in the country.

It is the Minister of Tourism, Habib Ammar, who now replaces her in this post. Since the formation of the government in September 2020, Walid Al-Zaidi is the prime minister to leave the technocratic government of Hichem Mechichi after the resignation of Ilyes Fakhfakh on July 15, 2020 under pressure from the Islamist mobility party Ennahda, highlighting the suspected corruption, under investigation for conflict of interest.

This Monday, October 5 during a rally, the Minister of Culture, Walid al-Zaidi in his statements at a gathering of Tunisian artists said that his ministry had not received any order to ban cultural events. And yet the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus has put in place strict measures.
