MALAWI
MALAWI: President Lazarus Chakwera on an official visit to South Africa
After Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Tanzania, President Lazarus Chakwera will make an official visit to South Africa. He will be welcomed by his African counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The visit of President Lazarus Chakwera is part of the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries. They have a great tradition of good neighbourliness and friendship. Malawi is the largest importer of South African products in the sub-region, which represents a significant financial bulwark in their respective economies.
The visit comes at a time when a great Malawian Shepherd Bushiri and his wife were arrested in otocbre 2020 for suspected fraud and money laundering worth six million dollars. Some personalities want this issue to be addressed by the Head of State during his stay. The latter did not want to speak.
Demographically, nearly one million Malawians have lived in South Africa for many generations. They live there, work with their families, and participate in the economic development of the host country. His visit, which began on 11 November, will end on Friday 13 November.
