EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Ambassador Permanent Delegate of Senegal Mr Souleymane Jules Diop to #UNESCO

Rice, fish, carrot, cabbage, yam, carrot, dried fish for reasoning, tomato concentrate pepper and other spices, thiébou djeune has definitely entered the history of humanity. This dish invented by the saint of Louisiana Penda MBaye and passed down from generation to generation.

On Wednesday 15 December 2021 the thiébou djeune, the national dish and culinary art of Senegal, was officially inscribed on the Intangible World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. As a reminder, the introductory dossier was submitted to the United Nations in 2020. During the vote, it was unanimously adopted without any objection. This dossier, which marks a point for the gastronomy of the teranga country, was defended by the Permanent Ambassador of Senegal to UNESCO, Souleymane Jules Diop… Ze-Africanews went to meet him and told us about the importance of this inscription.
