CONGO: Education Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso appointed Prime Minister

The Minister of Education in the outgoing government, Anatole Collinet Makosso is the new Prime Minister.

On Wednesday, Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso appointed outgoing Minister of Primary, Secondary and Literacy Education (MEPSA), Anatole Collinet Makosso, as Prime Minister and Head of Government.

Anatole Collinet Makosso , 56 years old , replaces Clément Mouamba who resigned on Wednesday, May 4, with his government team, almost three weeks after the inauguration of President Denis Sassou Nguesso for a fourth term.

The government’s resignation follows the presidential election of 21 March, which Sassou Nguesso won with 78.40% of the vote.

The new Prime Minister will have the task of forming a new government with the mission of addressing challenges such as the fight against corruption and improving access to water and electricity.
