Former President Abdoulaye Wade addressed Senegalese but also foreigners living in the country through a message via his Facebook page. During this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, the President insisted on praying for the entire population but also on respecting the measures barriers.

“Dear compatriots,
To the strangers living among us,
To all the members of the Muslim Community of the world,
At the beginning of the month of Ramadan, I would like to thank God and express my congratulations to the entire Islamic Umma and especially to all the Muslims in Senegal, and the foreigners of our Islamic community living among us.

Some of us are threatened not to be with us in the next Ramadan.

I ask you all to consciously and fully engage in the global offensive against Covid-19, to watch over and ensure strict compliance with the prescriptions widely disseminated by the WHO and the barrier measures decided by the Government.

Once again, I offer prayers of prompt healing to our compatriots who are already affected and to all the victims of Covid-19 in the world.

I pray ALLAH, the Almighty, to grant all our wishes and to accept all our devotions in this month of penance, mercy and active solidarity.

May the Merciful watch over Senegal.

Dewenety!”
