Big Mo Double Thio, whose real name is Mamadou Diockou, embodies the passionate emissary of melody and dance Manjak, a musical expression rooted in popular culture that aspires to transcend geographical boundaries. Originally from Guinea-Bissau, her parents, from the picturesque village of Poulondou, migrated to Senegal, leaving Kandjiénou in the commune of Tanaff to finally settle in Ziguinchor, the birthplace of Big Mo Double Thio, was the cradle of his first primary education in Samine, in the department of Goudomp, followed by secondary education in Tanaff and Ziguinchor. I can’t wait to see what we can create together in the future.

In 2014, driven by a surge of adventure, he decided to leave Senegal to embark on clandestine emigration. This journey takes him through Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Libya. From Libya, he embarked on makeshift boats to Italy. A year’s stay in Italy preceded his arrival in France.Currently, Big Mo Double Thio stands out as Ambassador Emeritus of Manjak Music in Paris, where he firmly established his presence. From France, he multiplies the stage performances, raising the standards of Manjak and Senegalese music with an inexhaustible energy. His journey, shaped by epic journeys and cross-cultural experiences, finds its apotheosis in his mission to share the richness of Manjak music with the world.
