Akon City is a futuristic city, designed for the department of Mbour in Senegal, on the small coast. It was the Senegalese international singer and entrepreneur Akon alias Alioune Badara Thiam who had the ingenious idea of wanting to provide his native country with a large-scale infrastructure.

The press disseminates surprising information about the project according to the press release of the Akon Communication Unit in Dakar. “It was with great surprise that we learned through the press that the promoter of «Akon City», in particular Alioune Badara Thiam «Akon», would not have respected the terms of the agreement signed with SAPCO to the point of being put on notice. According to the press, SAPCO will send in the coming days a letter putting an end to the partnership for «total non-compliance with the agreement signed between the parties». This decision would have been made at a coordination meeting. It is indeed surprising to read such a fabric of untruths.” According to the press release sent to us.
The second part of the communiqué of the Akon Communication Unit in Dakar lists all the actions that have been done by Akon on the site that will host the new city: “We restore the truth and wash the honour of Akon that we want to smear, for a project that does not yet say his name. As a reminder, the Akon City project was presented in 2018 for work to begin in 2021. The architecture was inspired by the iconic film “Black Panther” (Wakanda). The project involves the construction of large skyscrapers, shopping centres, a technology hub, music studios, production facilities, etc with the use of the latest blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies as a currency of exchange in the city. This project, which was to mobilize about 4,000 billion CFA francs and extend over 55 hectares in Mbodiène.
