In the fight against climate change, Gabon will become the first African country to receive international funds to prevent deforestation. Funding from Norway over a 10-year period of $ 150 million.

Gabon has distinguished itself in recent years in the preservation and maintenance of its forest resources. This is what earned him this agreement signed with Norway this Sunday, September 22, 2019.

More than 90% of Gabonese territory is covered by tropical forests and considerable efforts have been made since 2000, including the creation of 13 national parks.

These forests play a vital role in the world’s climatic balance. Indeed, regularly absorbing a large amount of carbon dioxide from human activities, they can slow global warming.
