Ousmane Sonko was sentenced to two in prison for youth corruption on Thursday, June 01, 2023 by the Criminal Chamber. He was acquitted of rape and death threats. He was also fined 600,000 CFA francs.

The Attorney General had requested against the third in the 2019 presidential election and president of the Pastef party ten years in prison for rape, or at least five years in prison for “youth corruption”.

Mr. Sonko, who did not attend the trial and was entrenched in Ziguinchor, continued to protest his innocence and to shout at a plot hatched by the president, who defends himself against it.
