The daughter of New York City mayor Bill de Blasio was arrested on Saturday night during a demonstration near Union Square, according to police sources. By 7sur7BE
Chiara de Blasio, 25, was among a group of a hundred people throwing objects at the police. The mayor’s daughter didn’t throw any shots but refused to leave the premises.
She was arrested at 10:30 on Saturday for unlawful assembly and then released. She gave the official address of her father, Gracie Mansion, when she was arrested.
New York police arrested 345 people on Sunday morning on a night of chaos in the city to protest the death of Goerge Floyd. 33 police officers were injured and 47 police vehicles were damaged.
The mayor spoke shortly after, denouncing the violence during the demonstrations. “If you go out peacefully to express a need for change, you have been heard and change will come. It is time to go home so that we can all move forward,” said Blasio. “But those who simply want to express hatred for the police by using violence will be arrested.”
