The Franco-Spanish lawyer, Juan Branco is indicted and placed under judicial control following his face to face with the judge of the second cabinet Mamadou Seck, this Monday 07 August 2023. He is thus free after 48 hours of detention in Rebeuss prison. And yet eight charges weigh against him just like Ousmane Sonko.
As a reminder, the lawyer of the leader of the former Pastef is prosecuted for almost the same crimes and crimes as Ousmane Sonko and his acolytes in prison. He was prosecuted for four offences: «the attack, provided for by Article 72 of the Penal Code, conspiracy (Article 73), dissemination of false news (Article 255) and acts and maneuvers likely to compromise public security or cause serious political unrest (Article 80)», according to Me Ciré Clédor Ly, one of his lawyers.
The French-Senegalese lawyer who challenged the State of Senegal by participating in the press conference of the lawyers of Ousmane Sonko on July 30 was extracted from the prison of Rebeuss this Saturday for a hearing at the Urban Security as part of a new indictment of the prosecutor. It is, in fact, «contempt of magistrate, discredit on a judicial decision and contempt of judicial institutions, irregular entry and stay in Senegal».
Despite these eight heavy charges, the lawyer did not spend more than 48 hours in prison. He is free but he is awaiting deportation from the country. Currently, Juan Branco is in the hands of the elements of the BIP who will put him on the next flight to Paris.
