As announced a few weeks ago, Zinedine Zidane decided to leave Real Madrid after a season where he won nothing with the Merengues. The Merengues leaders have formalized the departure of the 48-year-old French technician, this Thursday, May 27, 2021. Lucky with Real, he has won 3 Champions Leagues, 2 Club Worlds, 2 European Super Cups, 2 Liga and 2 Spanish Super Cups in 209 games, one every 19 games. But since returning to the club in March 2019, he has not been able to lead the Spanish club to success.

Between Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid, it’s now an old story after a season spent at Real Madrid since his return in 2019. The president of the club of the Spanish capital, Florentino Pérez, preferred to put an end to the contract of the French manager. Second in the Liga, eliminated from the Coupe du Roi by a third division team, beaten in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by Chelsea, Real Madrid really suffered this season without winning any trophies.

Real Madrid CF announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to end his current phase as coach of our club. It is now time to respect his decision and show him our gratitude for his professionalism, dedication and passion during all these years, and for what he represents for Real Madrid. Zidane is one of the great myths of Real Madrid and his legend goes beyond what he was as coach and player of our club. He knows that he is at the heart of Real Madrid and that Real Madrid is and will always be his home,” the Spanish club announced in a statement.

It now remains to know what the future of the French technician will be. Will he be at the head of another club or will he aim for the French selection? The future will build us.
