In Mali, the president of the transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, carried out a cabinet shuffle on Saturday, July 1, 2023. 13 ministers joined the government. We note that Assimi Goita’s “faithful lieutenants” remain in the new team, like Sadio Camara, who holds the defence portfolio and Abdoulaye Diop, the minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.

Sadio Camara has particularly distinguished herself in recent years, by her leadership qualities. Under his command, the Malian army inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists according to Seneweb.

«Hunted and sent to eternal rest»
Last March, during the reception of Russian aircraft and Turkish drones, the colonel promised to track down these jihadists assiduously if they did not lay down their weapons. “Their acts of harassment will not last long because they will be hunted down and sent to eternal rest,” he assured. Sadio Camara is presented as the man from Moscow to Bamako. According to Jeune Afrique, he has visited Russia several times in recent years. It is he who opened the doors of Mali to Wagner according to the Pan-African magazine.

His counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop, was the charismatic patron of Malian diplomacy. In particular, he defended the junta against accusations of human rights violations made by the UN. The colonel was also on the front line to respond to the accusations of Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights after Bamako requested the departure of Ngefa Atondoko Andali, the Director of the Human Rights Division of the UN Mission for Mali.

“Mali’s Military De-institutionalization”
n also retains its commitment to the departure of French soldiers from Operation Barkhane of the country but also its recent speech before the UN Security Council to demand the departure of MINUSMA. He methodically led the military de-institutionalization of Mali. Assimi Goita, who is probably on the same wavelength as him, has decided to keep him at his side.

Most M5-RFP member ministers disembarked
In addition to Sadio Camara and Abdoulaye Diop, the president of the transition has decided to keep in their positions other members of the government like the Minister of Security and Civil Protection , General Daoud Aly Mohammedine, the Minister of Reconciliation, Colonel Ismaël Wagué, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga and the Minister of Justice, Mamadou Kassogué.

Choguel Maiga is still the Prime Minister, but he is somewhat weakened, since most of the ministers, members of his movement, the M5-RFP did not survive this cabinet shuffle.
