Senegalese President Macky Sall has announced a budget of 10 billion CFA francs, or more than 15 million euros. Objective: to cope with the floods which hit the country hard on Saturday and Sunday.

This financial envelope intervenes in the life of the victims while the whole of the Senegalese population but also political leaders belonging to the opposition criticized the management of the government in the face of this phenomenon which comes back every year as an eternal restart.

“I call on my compatriots to change their behavior. We are in the case of climate change which is a global phenomenon. Very early in 2012, I launched the ten-year flood control program and it is important that this program be continued (…) So to support these efforts, I decided to set up a budget of 10 billion CFA francs, of which 3 billion will be used directly to support the affected populations and another 7 billion will be used to support the services of firefighters, the Onas (National Sanitation Office of Senegal) and the purchase of additional material ”.
