We know a little more about the unexpected decision of the leader of Pastef les Patriotes, Ousmane Sonko, to appear before Mamadou Seck, the judge of the 8th cabinet, this Wednesday at 9 am. It was his religious guide Serigne Abdou Mbacké who asked him to renounce his decision in the name of peace and stability. In the name of the peace and stability of the country and after having discussed it at length with several political figures, civil society, but also different religious groups of the country, I have asked Mr. Ousmane Sonko to defer to the summons of the judge who wishes to hear him this Wednesday, March 3, 2021. A request that he accepted in the name of his immense respect for me as his guide and friend, but also in the name of his deep commitment to peace. On my own behalf and that of all the religious authorities of the country, civil society but also political actors involved in this mediation, I take this opportunity to thank Mr. Ousmane Sonko warmly. I renew all my attachment and support to him. I also greet his sense of sacrifice for the sake of the homeland alone.
I also take this opportunity to renew my friendship with all the Senegalese people. I also pray for the peace and stability of the country, while I hope that our dear Senegal will very soon overcome the painful moments we have been experiencing over the past few weeks.
