SENEGAL: Installation of the national dialogue steering committee.

Head of State Macky Sall will officially install the members of the National Dialogue’s steering committee this Thursday, December 25, 2019 in the banquet hall of the Palace of the Republic. Famara Ibrahima Sagna is the head of this committee. He will have the task of piloting the exchanges of this committee whose sole ambition is the interest of the nation.

Famara Ibrahima Sagna’s team will be installed this Thursday by the President of the Republic, Macky Sall. The head of state proceeded on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 to the opening of the national dialogue in the presence of several political, economic, religious and civil society figures. However, this call for dialogue was rejected by most of the opposition. Among the four unsuccessful presidential candidates, only Professor Issa Sall, leader of the Unity and Rally Party (PUR), took part in the launch of the dialogue.

The national dialogue must address electoral issues such as the calendar, sponsorship, the status of the leader of the opposition, the management of future oil and gas resources or the employment of young people and women, the environment and peace and security.

The national dialogue has a political component, the work of which began in May 2019. This work is led by General Mamadou Niang.
