The death of President Béji Caïd Essebsi is one of the reasons why the Tunisian authorities have decided to advance the date of the 9-week presidential elections. This is the second free presidential election in the political history of Tunisia after that of Sunday, December 23, 2014.
More than 70,000 security agents have been mobilized to take charge of the ballot box and secure the will of Tunisian citizens in the 13,000 polling stations in the country.
