Arrested then condemned by the Court of repression of illicit enrichment, Karim Wade was able to benefit from a presidential pardon and now lives in Qatar. In the context of the allegations against him, the son of the former president of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade has just won a legal battle against the State of Senegal. The Monaco Court of First Instance refused to let the State of Senegal get its hands on its bank accounts.
Antoine Félix Diome, the judicial agent for the State of Senegal, demanded the attachment of 24 bank accounts belonging to Karim Wade, Ibrahima Khalil Bourgi, Karim Aboukhalil Bourgi and Pape Mamadou Pouye. A seizure which is in line with the conviction of Karim Wade by Crei, then headed by the prosecutor Alioune Ndao.
In fact, in 2018, the Correctional Court of Monaco dismissed the Senegalese government on appeal, which demanded the outright seizure of the same bank accounts in the context of legal proceedings.
Remember that French justice has always rejected the idea of confiscating the property of former Minister Karim Wade. This is why, all the requests of the state of Senegal going in this direction were categorically rejected.
