UNITED STATES: Democrats call for dismissal of Donald Trump

After three days of advocacy, the Democrats asked Congress to declare Donald Trump’s impeachment. Their argument is based on the fact that the former President was aware of his actions and that there is no guarantee that he will not reoffend if he is acquitted.

On Thursday, February 11, the Democrats concluded their presentation in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump. They indicated that the former Republican President remains a danger to democracy. “Trump knew exactly what he was doing by inciting the crowd on January 6,” said Democratic prosecutor Jamie Raskin, who went on to ask: “Is there a political leader in this room who believes that if the Senate allows him to return one day to the Oval Office, Donald Trump will stop inciting violence to get what he wants?” Jamie Raskin.

Joe Neguse, another Democratic prosecutor to embolden the same trumpet indicating that the 45th President of the United States knew how explosive the situation was. We have shown you press releases, videos, sworn statements, which prove that President Trump instigated an insurrection that only he had the power to stop. And the fact that he didn’t arrest her, the fact that he incited an illegal attack and abdicated his duty to defend us against it, the fact that he actually inflamed the crowd, demands more than ever condemnation and disqualification,” he said. He pleaded, adding that Donald Trump lit the fuse and threw it straight to the Capitol.

Therefore, he concluded his plea by questioning the jurors of the trial: We humbly ask you to condemn President Trump for the crime for which he is unquestionably guilty. Because if you don’t, if we pretend it didn’t happen, or worse, if we let it go unanswered, who can say it won’t happen again?”

Republican Senator John Thune welcomed Wednesday’s statement of facts calling it a “good job”. But several of Donald Trump’s allies are holding their ground. Indeed, Lindsey Graham is convinced that the former President will be found not guilty. So it is this Friday that the Republicans will begin their defense arguments.
