BENIN-LESOTHO: List of selection squirrels

Publie

This is official, man! The list of players selected for the Benin-Lesotho double match in the next CAN playoffs has been unveiled. It is this Tuesday, November 03, 2020 in the premises of the Ministry of Sports that Michel Dussuyer, national coach has communicated the list of 24 players who will be of these two crucial appointments in mid-November. By Fraternite BJ Info

Several changes are visible in the Dussuyer list compared to the previous one. For the second time in a row, we note the absence of the historic captain of the selection Stéphane Sessègnon. Still without a club, the French technician decided not to select him. The top scorer in the history of the Beninese selection has been free since the end of his contract with the Turkish club Gencherbiligi.

David Kiki returns
For his part, the left-back Beninese David Kiki, finds the selection after his non convocation at the last rally due to his club-free status.Kiki has since signed at PFC Montana in the first Bulgarian division, which allowed him to return to the Squirrels. It is the opposite for Moïse Adilehou who in lack of playing time at NAC Breda in the Netherlands, is not convened. Another squirrel signs his return to the house. It is Jérôme Bonou. The midfielder of Djoliba FC in Mali returns after being absent from the last rally. As for Marcelin Koukpo, since he has just officially returned to his new club, CR Belouizdad, is not called. The former Buffaloes of Parakou was summoned recently, but for administrative reasons he was unable to make the trip.

Marcel Dadjinou: the surprise guest
Finally, in this list, there is a more or less surprising presence. That of Marcel Dadjinou, the goalkeeper of Esae FC, club of the Vitalor league 1. The last rampart of Esae is without competition since the stop and the cancellation of the Beninese championship because of the pandemic of the Coronavirus. Also noteworthy is a new convocation for Yohann Roche and Mateo Ahlinvi, the two novices of the last gathering of the Squirrels.

The Squirrels will first face Lesotho at home on 14 November at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Porto-Novo before moving to the Setsoto Stadium in Lesotho for the return match scheduled for 17 November. As a reminder, Benin is second in Group L behind Nigeria with three points. Lesotho is just behind, third with one point.
