SENEGAL – Two Senegalese in the Top 20 of the biggest salaries in Ligue 1
Two Senegalese internationals are in the Top 20 of the biggest salaries of Ligue 1. They are the new player called Abdou Diallo and his teammate at PSG, Idrissa Gueye. By Footempo
Lately, a health and financial crisis has forced several Ligue 1 clubs to announce that they have reached agreements with their players in order to implement wage cuts that have become vital for the survival of certain teams. Deprived of the «matchday» recipes and knocked out by the Mediapro affair, the clubs tighten their belts to avoid closing the door. But in these difficult times, there are things that are not going to change.
Starting with the outrageous domination of the Paris Saint-Germain players in the Team’s record on the biggest salaries in Ligue 1. Like every year, the Rouge-et-Bleu are in the top 10, or even the top 20. Indeed, only a few players from AS Monaco (Wissam Ben Yedder, Cesc Frabregas), Olympique Lyonnais (Memphis Depay) and Olympique de Marseille (Florian Thauvin) come to interfere among the twenty biggest emoluments of our championship.
A domination of the PSG
Not surprisingly (the announced salaries are in gross monthly) Neymar (€3.06 million) and Kylian Mbappé (€2.098 million) are far ahead of everyone in the first two places. Captain Marquinhos and midfielder Marco Verratti complete the podium with €1.2 million per month. Next came Angel Di Maria (€1.1 million), who recently extended until 2022, and PSG savior Keylor Navas (€1 million). Mauro Icardi (€800,000), Leandro Paredes (€750,000), Juan Bernat (€700,000) and Presnel Kimpembe (€670,000) closed the top 10.
Only non-Paris players to be in the top 20 of the biggest salaries, Wissam Ben Yedder is €650,000 (12th), just ahead of Spain’s Cesc Fabregas (€600,000 (13th)). Memphis Depay is 16th in this ranking with 480,000€, four places ahead of Marseille’s Florian Thauvin (422,000€). Julian Draxler (14th, €600,000), Idrissa Gueye (15th, €500,000), Layvin Kurzawa (17th, €450,000), Pablo Sarabia (18th, €450,000) and Abdou Diallo (19th, €450,000) are also in the top 20. Finally, it is necessary to go down to the 22nd place to see no more Parisians. Recently arrived in Ligue 1, Arkadiusz Milik is 23rd with 400,000€.
