The Supreme Court of Nairobi has just canceled the presidential election on Friday 1 September 2017.

On 8 August 2017 last outgoing President Uluru Kenyatta was re-elected with 54.27% of the votes against 44.74% obtained by his opponent Raila Odinga.

At the request of the opposition, the Supreme Court has just taken a “historic decision”.

“The elections were not conducted in accordance with the Constitution,” said Supreme Court President David Maraga. He goes on to say: “To the question of whether illegalities and irregularities have affected the integrity of the election, the Court is of the opinion that this is the case.”

The ballot is declared nude and invalid. A new election must be held within 60 days.
