The 2023 Ballon d’or will be awarded on October 30, 2023 in Paris but it is this Wednesday that the list of 30 players nominated for the supreme individual award will be unveiled. Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé are expected in a very good position to succeed Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne could claim to create the surprise.
Three names quickly emerged for this year’s Ballon d’or: that of Lionel Messi, who finally won the World Cup with Argentina (in addition to the title of French champion with PSG), that of Erling Haaland, A great architect of the Manchester City hat-trick with the Champions League-Premier League-FA Cup, and that of Kylian Mbappé, a World Cup finalist and the author of a hat-trick with France in addition to his Ligue 1 title. To these three could be added Kevin De Bruyne, The master of Skyblues. The winner will succeed Karim Benzema, who was crowned last year.
On the women’s side, Aitana Bonmati is the favourite, with her Women’s World Cup triumph with Spain and her Champions League title with Barca.
All nominees will be announced from 18:30 and until 21:00 on the L’Equipe channel.
