The emblematic president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, was re-elected until 2025. In place since 2009 after having already held this position from 2000 to 2006, the 74-year-old man will be able to continue his projects at the head of the Madrid club.

Spanish businessman Florentino Pérez (74) was re-elected president of Real Madrid for a sixth term, announced the Madrid club on the night of Monday to Tuesday, and will lead the «White House» until 2025.

“Only one candidacy has been validated by the electoral committee and under Article 40, paragraph E, point 2 of the club’s current statutes, D. Florentino Pérez Rodríguez is proclaimed President,” Real Madrid said in a statement issued on the night of Monday to Tuesday. The electoral committee of the Madrid club met on Tuesday at 12:01 am (Paris time), after having let the day of Monday pass, the deadline to submit his candidacy for the presidency of Real.

Alone in the race, the list led by Florentino Perez was automatically elected and the meeting ended at 00:15, says the club press release. This is the fourth consecutive term for Pérez, his sixth in total. The major challenges of Florentino Pérez’s new mandate will be the completion of the renovation of the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium, the management of the club’s finances after the pandemic, and the recruitment of Kylian Mbappé and/or Erling Haaland, the two prodigies targeted by Real Madrid.

Head of ACS, one of the world’s leading construction and construction groups, Florentino Perez (74) became president again in 2009 after a first run at the head of Real «Galactiques» between 2000 and 2006. He was then re-elected in 2013, and again in June 2017, with no candidates running against him.

In total, Perez has already spent nearly 18 years at the head of the merengue club.
