SENEGAL – 30 Senegalese firefighters sent to Turkey honoured by Erdogan

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan awarded the highest distinction of the Turkish State (medal of honor), this Thursday, April 27, 2023, the 30 firefighters sent by Senegalese President Macky Sall to assist in the rescue and search operations during the earthquake in Turkey.

This decoration took place during a ceremony of tribute and recognition in Ankara. The 30 Senegalese firefighters, specialists in rescue and clearing, were represented by Captain Djibril Sall, commander of the Senegalese detachment, in the presence of the Senegalese ambassador to Turkey.

As a reminder, Senegal sent a 30-member search and rescue team to Turkey to support relief efforts following the earthquake that devastated the country.

President Macky Sall, had promised to send a detachment of sappers-The Ambassador of Turkey to Senegal came to the airport to thank these soldiers for their fire.

In the rubble and rubble, hundreds of thousands of homeless people are still facing hunger and cold in Turkey and Syria, more than a week after the powerful earthquake, whose death toll now exceeds 35,000.

While the chances of finding survivors are almost nil, the priority is now to help the hundreds of thousands of people whose homes were destroyed by the earthquake.
