The Pastef party of Ousmane Sonko published this Tuesday, June 2023 before the media a Memorandum entitled «Light» in response to the government’s «White Paper» on the dramatic events of June 1 and 2, 2023.
The party’s communications officer commented on a video document about the repressed demonstrations earlier this month before announcing that there is another document written for the media.
Biram Souley Diop, the vice-president of the Pastef party and no less president of the Opposition Parliamentary Group, gave details of the victims’ record, which he said are all among the demonstrators.
30 dead, 4 not yet identified
Biram Souley Diop claims that Pastef cannot be described as the one who perpetrates violence when almost all the victims are in his ranks. He also informs that there are 30 registered deaths, 4 of which have not yet been identified. This is corroborated by the figures of the various bodies which have published a

Also, adds the document More than 80% of the victims were shot. This is confirmed by autopsy. The autopsy is systematic and the procedure almost automatic in case of violent death or suspicion of external cause. In cases where the autopsy was not performed, the accountability of a firearm is established through observation of the injury and the impact of the projectile.
157 injured and more than 650 arrested
The “Light” Memorandum also noted that the recent events in early June resulted in 157 injuries, including several gunshot injuries. “157 injuries including 15 gunshot injuries with more frequent injuries to the lower or upper limbs (10 cases) resulting in closed or open fractures (femur, tibia, forearm…) and/or open ballistic wounds,” reads the document.
Pastef has also counted more than 650 arrests in his ranks, including senior party officials. There are also journalists and columnists on this list who are not active in Ousmane Sonko’s party. Cases of torture were also recorded in the Pastef memorandum.
