In his opening speech at the official ceremony of the Renewpac 2023 Summit, which brings together African, European and Pacific Liberals in Dakar, Nicola Beer, Vice-President of the European Parliament, highlighted the need for close collaboration between the EU and Africa, evoking various themes such as economic cooperation, shared values, and global challenges that require a joint approach.
Addressing the theme of this year’s Renewpac 2023 Summit, “Europe – Africa: How to Foster Sustainable Development”, European Parliament Vice-President Nicola Beer made a plea for a strengthened and strategic partnership between the EU and Africa. Beer stressed the need for mutually beneficial economic cooperation to stimulate growth and development on both continents.
As the world faces important global challenges such as climate change, migration and security, she stressed the importance of finding collaborative solutions. It did not fail to reaffirm liberal values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the context of often tense international relations.
