SENEGAL: The artist Carlou D wants to do “Stand up”.
The artist Carlou D published on his Facebook page on August 25, 2017 a photo with a beautiful pose with the message “Time to stand up”.
Dressed very elegantly in a black suit set, a white shirt and a butterfly bow. He has his hands turned to the left side and his right foot resting on a top of an office chair.
A publication that was loved almost 3000 times.
Who is Carlou D?
Ibrahima Loucard dit Carlou D was born on 13 December 1979 in Dakar of Senegalese nationality. He made his first steps in school in 1985 and left it in 1995 for the benefit of music. He was a member of the rap group PBS Radikal before embarking on a solo career that propelled him to the front of the stage.
At the age of 12 he felt a facility for singing, and with time he has a crazy love for music. From the age of sixteen (16), in addition to music, he developed a crazy passion for dance and this allowed him to win with the group “NAVAJO”, the prize for the best choreography at “Oscars des vacances” edition 2002.
From then on, he began a solo career. He meets experienced artists who advise him and allow him to have a perfect mastery of the acoustic guitar. Currently, Carlou D never separates from his guitar.
This experience bears fruit, when he has the opportunity to participate in the album “Khalanam” of the singer Daby in 2000.
During the same year, he met Ass Malick and Seydiman with whom he formed the group “SKA BLUE”. They compose together a song produced by the agency for the cleanliness of Dakar which will know a real success with the Senegalese public.
In 2003, the artist Carlou D joined Positive Black Soul (PBS) and became one of the leading artists in the African Hip Hop movement. Now the group is composed of Carlou D, Baay Souley and Didier Awadi.
His enormous potential will open the doors of recognition in their company. This is how he will release his first solo album in 2004 “Séédé” or witness of his time.
Carlou D is gifted with the guitar and has a suave and exceptional voice. He is today, in his generation, the master chef of musical melodies capable of making the most insensitive sensitive.
In 2006, he released a second opus entitled “Weeru Waay”. The latter allows the Senegalese public to grasp the style of the artist who beyond Hip Hop develops a facility of expression in other musical styles much more classical.
Thus he was approached by the organizers of the first African opera named “Bintou Wéré” among which he will evolve for almost two years. Waziz diop, Michel Mavros, Oumy Sy, Germaine Acogny …. To mention only the latter will be an important contribution in terms of experience and knowledge. This transition to the Sahel Opera of the Prince Claus Association of Amsterdam is an important turning point in his career because he learns a lot.
His atypical career allows him to discover unsuspected artistic talents.
It is in this context that he will prepare his third album entitled Ndeye Dior named after his late mother. This album of consecration will be released in 2008. The artist expresses himself without any restraint on his feelings, his messages and approaches musical styles quite different from those that he knew until now.
Because beyond the Hip Hop which allowed the Senegalese public to discover it, Carlou D comes to propose a new style that he calls Muzikr; Alliance between music and Zikr in acoustic sounds.
As part of the promotion of this album, he presents himself to the international public through various performances at MOMO’S in London, the Territorios festival in Seville and recently at one of the most important annual music event: WOMEX (World Music Expo) organized this year (2009) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He is currently pursuing his career in company and plans to release an international album in the course of 2010 with many surprises.

CAMEROON – Wedding of Charlotte Dipanda with Fernand Lopez
A lively controversy on the web the day after the celebration of their union. The Cameroonian singer is in the subjects of discussion the day after her civil marriage with Fernand Lopez celebrated Saturday, April 15, 2023. Charlotte Dipanda is being called a hypocrite because of an old interview that just surfaced.
The wedding of the famous Cameroonian singer, Charlotte Dipanda, with Fernand Lopez, her long-time companion, has made the headlines on social networks since this weekend. But this celebration was not well received by everyone, as some Internet users pulled out an interview with the star in which she said she was not interested in marriage.
Indeed, the 37-year-old singer gave an interview a few months ago, in which she criticized marriage by stating that all married couples she knew were unhappy. She also stated that marriage was not an end in itself or a goal to be achieved. I, all married people I know, are unhappy. Just to tell you that for me, marriage, as you define it, is not an end in itself, it is not a goal or something that prevents me from sleeping at night. I think I may even be on the right track. Because sometimes, when it is done, we realize that we no longer give ourselves as before or fight in the same way. I like the idea that my man is afraid of losing me, that he doesn’t take me for granted,” she said in an interview with an Ivorian media outlet in August 2022.
Charlotte Dipanda caught up in her past?
Very quickly, these statements provoked strong reactions from some Internet users, who called the singer a hypocrite. They objected to her criticizing marriage in public, when she clearly intended to marry. It is unacceptable for them to criticize something publicly and then celebrate it in private.
Here are people who misunderstood marriage during the day, on television sets, in the newspapers through interviews and who, at night, prepare to celebrate it, You shouted strong woman. I don’t need a husband to thrive. Today you are Mrs Lopez, the girls who looked at you as a model who are not star enough suitors like you and you had not thought of them. I am not against your happiness but avoid conveying messages that are not wise», we can read among other things in the comments.
These comments have sparked heated debates on social networks, with some Internet users defending Charlotte Dipanda, stressing that a person’s opinions and choices can change over time. Others took the singer’s side by saying that she had the right to change her mind and make the decision to marry.
Anyway, Charlotte Dipanda finally took the plunge and officially married Fernand Lopez last weekend. The singer officially became the wife of Fernand Lopez Owonyebe, a veteran of mixed Cameroonian-French martial art and current MMA coach. The couple did civil marriage this Saturday, April 15, 2023 about five months after the traditional marriage.
