SENEGAL: “The hidden side of Ndongo Lô”, Omart Literary Grand Prix 2017.

The Literature Grand Prize and the Africa-Culture-Freedom Grand Prize are awarded respectively to the writer Déthié Ndiaye, author of the book, “The Hidden Face of Ndongo LO (Grand Prix Littéraire), and Mahély Bâ, reggae musician, originating of Côte d’Ivoire (Africa-Culture-Freedom Award). This is announced in a statement from the Observatory of Music and Arts of Senegal (Omart).

The writer Déthié Ndiaye traces in his book The Hidden Face of Ndongo LO, the life of the Senegalese singer artist too early disappeared.

This deliberation completes the list of the 2017 Grand Prix of the Year: Man of the Year of Culture Oumar Diaw Seck, and the following Special Prizes: Best Instrumentalist Award: Mbaye Sy (Percussionist RAAM DAAN 2017); Best Director Award: Matamoura says Ndiaga Fall (THROUGH BARRIERS); Senegalese Diaspora Prize: Boy Marone (Music / Finance); Urban Culture Award: Bicrew (Hip Hop Pikine); Sponsorship Award: Ricky Ndiaye (PROKHANE FRANCE); Revelation Award: Sidy Diop (music); and the 2017 HOPE OF THE YEAR Award, El Hadji Keita. The award ceremony will take place at the Daniel Sorano Theater in June 2018.
