SENEGAL: The rails soon rehabilitated.

The Minister of Transport, Oumar Youm, announced this Friday January 10, 2020 the execution of 13 structuring projects which will link all the national territory with more than 2065 km of rail. After the TER (Regional Express Train), the government intends to operate its entire rail network to facilitate passenger transport but also promote job creation.

The overall investment planned for this major infrastructure project is US $ 3.5 billion, an annual commitment of CFAF 50 billion.

According to the Secretary of State in charge of the rail network, Mayacine Camara, this policy which sets its objectives in 2035 will serve 75% of the Senegalese population. It will also help create 180,000 jobs during the works.

This network will transport 2.5 million passengers and 24.2 million tonnes annually. The capital gain is estimated at 200 billion CFA francs per year, according to Mayacine Camara.
