The younger brother of former Burkina Faso president Blaise Compaore was arrested by the French police. This arrest took place on Sunday, October 29, when he arrived at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.
Indeed, François Compaoré was under an international arrest warrant issued by Burkina Faso, as part of the investigation into the assassination of the famous journalist Norbert Zongo. Warrant of arrest launched since May 5, 2017.
As a reminder, the journalist Norbert Zongo was murdered on December 13, 1998, while investigating the murder of David Ouédraogo, François Compaoré’s driver. The calcined body of our colleague was found later in his car a hundred kilometers from the capital of Burkina Faso.
Convictions, demonstrations, complaints (including that of Reporters Without Borders in 2000) had not allowed anything to change.
