The Senegalese club of Rufisque, Teungueth FC, played its very first Champions League match against the Espérance Sportive of Tunis this Saturday, February 13 at the Hammadi Agredi Stadium located in Radès, about ten kilometers south-east of downtown Tunis, in the heart of the Olympic City. The Rufisquois, who led the way however, suffered the law of the famous “remontada” and lost their entry in this competition (2 to 1).

Teungueth Fc started the match well by developing his game without complex in the first period against the experienced training of the Hope of Tunis. The Rufisquois logically opened the brand thanks to Djibril Sylla in the 33rd minute following a breakthrough by Paul Bassène.

But the men of Youssouph Dabo began to retreat and concede many opportunities. A few seconds before the end of the first half, the Tunisians get a rather questionable penalty after a lack of hand. The Espérance de Tunis equalised thanks to Yassine Khenessi in the 45th minute. Both teams returned to the locker room on this parity score (1 to 1).

In the second half, Teungueth FC was back on the attack to try to make his mark in this Champions League game which marks the first in his history. But the Rufisquois were surprised in the 73rd minute by an error from goaltender Baye Assane Cissé who slipped out to try to recover a cross (2-1).

Teungueth FC missed his entry into the competition and will be able to feed regrets given his performance on the lawn of Hope in Tunis.
