[CRAMPONS]- Awards – Can Trophy and World Championship Qualification

Article produced by our special envoy Fatou DIENG from Dakar
The Senegalese Football Federation already guaranteed to receive CFAF 10 billion! After the continental trophy and qualification at the World Cup, Senegal recorded a sporting success, but also and especially financial. For both campaigns, the Senegalese Football Federation is already guaranteed to receive CFAF 10 billion.
This year 2022 could not start so well for Senegalese football. Winner of the Can in Cameroon last February, Senegal continued this victorious dynamic by qualifying for the 2022 World Cup on Tuesday, ahead of Egypt. A sporting success for Aliou Cissé and his men. But also a financial success for the Senegalese Football Federation.
Indeed, following this third qualification in its history to a World Cup, the federal authority should pocket Fifa, a nice deal, estimated at more than 7 billion CFAF francs. The same amount is reserved for all the federations that will be in Qatar. As confirmed by the spokesman of the Moroccan Football Federation, Mohamed Makrouf, also advisor to President Fouzi Lekjaa.
The Moroccan leader whose country has just won the ticket to Qatar, to reveal to the local press the sum of 130 million dirhams (7 billion, 800 million CFAF) that Fifa will make available to each qualified team.
This CFAF 7 billion will be paid in two instalments. First each qualified team will benefit from an advance of nearly two billion FCFA to cover the costs of preparation. The second tranche (the other 5 billion) will be handed over in case of elimination in the first round.
It should be noted that FIFA had approved an increase in funding for the «Russia 2018» World Cup, for a total amount of 400 million dollars, 12% more than the 358 million dollars of the 2014 edition.
If Senegal qualifies for the round of 16, it will receive $12 million (CFAF 7 billion). And in case Sadio Mané’s teammates make it to the quarter-finals, a sum of 16 million dollars (9.5 billion FCFA) will fall into the coffers of the Fédé football.
Recall that France, winner of the 2018 World Cup, won 38 million dollars, Croatia, finalist, 28 million dollars. Third place: $24 million. Fourth place: $22 million.
Let’s change the competition to remember that following the brand new Lions coronation at the Can 2022 in Cameroon, the Senegalese Football Federation expects a victory bonus of nearly 3 billion FCFA. By adding up the Cdn premium and the World Cup qualifying bonus, the federal authority is already guaranteed to receive at least CFAF 10 billion. A sum that could increase as far as the men of Aliou Cissé will arrive during their course in these world games of Qatar.
