This is the surprise single of this end of year. On Friday, September 7, 2022, Congolese artist Fally Ipupa (44) released his new video «Se Yo» on his YouTube channel. The fans, caught off guard, rushed to the video as soon as it was posted. The fans did not hesitate to watch and comment on it. In just a few hours, the video received over 400,000 views and thousands of encouraging comments.

Before his concert in Kinshasa scheduled for October 29, 2022, at the Stade des Martyrs, Fally Ipupa has just released a clip that is only the logical continuation of his last clip «Science fiction» released on September 1, 2022 and which has 2,841,509 views. With this new single, another record may fall. Good time!

In a bitter rumba, the Congolese star leads music lovers into a dilemma where the artist must choose between father, mother and wife . He must make a cornelian choice. A Rodrigue of another age. In the middle of the song in Lingala, he interrupts the melody, and brings to light those who understood nothing of these beautiful notes: “So, my dear friends / You who don’t understand Lingala, the most beautiful language in the world / So I was saying, my family came to visit us / And at the end of their stay, we decided to take my wife and me home / And during the voyeage, the boat has sunk / And I am then asked to save only one person / Either a family member, my wife, or the boat captain / In your opinion, who should I save?” I’d hate to be in his case.

This mix is the logical sequel to “Science-fiction”. Another mix that made a hit on streaming platforms. Yet in its early days, the designer of the Tokoos had difficulties in front of the microphone. Born into a Catholic family in Bandal in Kinshasa, DRC, Fally Ipupa, because of his sickly shyness and stuttering, had no chance of breaking into the music scene. But in a neighborhood where life is punctuated by the sound of music from terraces and bars, he takes confidence until he becomes the star we know today.

He stands out when he joins the Latin Quarter with Koffi Olomidé; another rumba monster. When he released his first solo album “Droit Chemin” in 2006, music lovers fell in love with him. Many people are in awe of this unique musical timbre. But, it is in 2014 that his popularity explodes with his “Original”. It was a record at the time. Over 35 million views. Then comes this divine single “Eloko Oyo” that will propel it even higher: more than 70 million views. Never seen before for a Congolese rumba artist. Now UNICEF’s ambassador, in addition to being one of the 50 most influential Africans, according to Jeune Afrique, he remains in the top charts with the billion streaming on YouTube. That’s a lot of money.
