The tragedy occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday, September 15, 2019 on the Congo River, in the commune of Maluku, periphery of the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasha. The circumstances of the accident of the boat called “whaling” are unknown.
The vessel in question was carrying goods and passengers when it capsized. As a result of this unfortunate event, the police are busy helping passengers and saving as many people as possible. At this moment, more than 76 people have been put out of danger but more than 36 others can not be found.
