Former health minister Oly llunga Kalenga was arrested in Kinshasa, the capital of the country, on Saturday, September 14, 2019. He was immediately arrested and placed in custody by the judicial police for a hijacking case of up to 4. 3 million US dollars. This arrest came as he was attempting illegally to leave the country for Brazzaville.
The facts go back to the fight against the Ebola epidemic in July 2016, when Oly llunga Kalenga resigned. In fact, the country’s authorities had released $ 4.3 million to the public treasury to eradicate the spread of the epidemic. Oly Ilunga Kalinga, then Minister of Health, opposed the use of funds for the introduction of a second vaccine in the fight against the killer virus.
