The Cameroonian international Samuel Eto’o, through a short message posted on Instagram this Friday, September 6, 2019 entitled “The End, to a new challenge”, decides to put an end to his career. It will leave many memories, titles and a beautiful story in Cameroon.

Samuel Eto’o was without a club after playing for Qatar SC and spent three years in Turkey with Antalyaspor and Konyaspor.

He arrived in Europe in 1996 and has played in the biggest clubs in Europe including Real Madrid (1996 – 2000), Mallorca (2000 – 2004), Barcelona (2004 – 2009), Inter Milan (2009 – 2011), at Anji Makhachkala (2011 – 2013), at Chelsea (2013 – 2014), at Everton (2014 – 2015), at Sampdoria (2015).

Samuel Eto’o has won almost every title with his various clubs, the Champions League (2006 – 2009 – 2010), at the World Club Cup (2010), through the Spanish Championships (2005 – 2006 – 2009) or from Italy (2010).

With his selection, Cameroon, he won twice the Africa Cup of Nations (2000 – 2002), and he was voted African player of the year four times (2003 – 2004 – 2005 – 2010).

An important story of global football in general and African in particular is turning. Samuel Eto’o is undoubtedly the best African player of the last 20 years with 118 selections with 59 goals scored.
