To fight more effectively against Covid-19 which is gaining ground in the country, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 a vaccination campaign from April 2021 until June. The first stage at the start of the year will concern the most vulnerable people.

In his speech, French President Emmanuel Macron announced “a very targeted campaign, with a first generation vaccine” at the start of 2021. Health authorities recommend starting with residents of Ephad (retirement home for dependent people). Indeed, these Ephads recorded 16,000 deaths out of the 52,000 counted in the country since the start of the pandemic.

The campaign will then expand from April to June. A strategy to fight the pandemic that reassures Professor Stéphane Paul, member of the Covid vaccine committee at the Ministry of Health and Research. For him, “this is the best strategy that is achievable with the number of doses that have been reserved for the moment.”

After the approval of the health authorities, the first phase can be started towards the end of December and will continue in January 2021. The most important, according to the professor, is to achieve a good communication strategy to convince people to agree to be vaccinated .

This European campaign will be a decisive phase in the fight against the coronavirus disease since the French president specifies that all the countries of Europe will be able to gradually start to organize the campaign and convince their citizens. “There will not be a battle between European countries,” he said as part of the pooling of efforts to fight Covid-19.
