Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda was appointed Head of Government on July 16, 2020. This is a first in the political history of Gabon, an unprecedented event. A woman head of government never took place in the country.

The President of the Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba announced: I appointed Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda as Prime Minister today. For the first time in the history of Gabon, a woman will hold this position. I thank his predecessor, Julien Nkoghe Bekalé, who faithfully and effectively fulfilled his mission».

Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda is a 56-year-old technocrat who is also close to the president. An economist by training, she began her career as Director General of the Economy and Deputy Director General of the Habitat Bank of Gabon in the 2000s.

A lot of files are waiting for him on the table. Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda has a high priority: reviving the national economy, an economy that has suffered the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic.
