On Monday, September 2, 2019, police Guinea-Bissau announced seized a large amount of cocaine, almost 2 tons, a cargo that came from Colombia. This is the biggest seizure in the history of the country that constitutes a transition between Latin America and Europe.
The seizure was carried out in two stages, in localities located in the north of the country, 120 km from the capital. According to the deputy director of the judicial police, Domingos Correia, 264 kg of cocaine concealed in sacks of flour were seized at the port of Caio.
The other part of the cargo was transported by road to Canchungo, about 30 km from Caio. That’s a total of 1, 8 ton that the police managed to seize.
“This is the biggest seizure in the country and I thank our members for their courage and determination to stem this scourge,” says Correia.
Already, on March 10, police Guinea-Bissau had seized more than 800 kg of cocaine in a truck registered in Senegal, a few hours of parliamentary elections.
