“For general education, the first term runs from Monday, September 11, 2017 to Friday, December 8, 2017, ie twelve (12) weeks of courses. The second trimester, from Monday, December 11, 2017 to Friday, March 9, 2018, namely eleven (11) weeks of courses and the last trimester, from Monday, March 12, 2018 to Friday, June 10, 2018, being eleven (11) weeks of courses. Thus, in General Education, the school year 2017-2018 lasts 34 weeks, that is to say 1020 hours of course “, said the Director of the lycées and colleges, Méa Kouadio.
Concerning technical education and vocational training, “the first semester runs from Monday, September 11, 2017 to Friday, January 26, 2018, ie 17 weeks of courses, the second semester, from Monday, January 29, 2018 to Friday, July 1, 2018, courses. Thus, in technical education and vocational training, the school year lasts 33 weeks and 1188 hours of courses, “he added.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of National Education, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Kandia Camara, placed the new school year under the sign of consolidation of the achievements, affirming that the school year 2016- 2017 saw the realization of the Compulsory Schooling Policy. She called for good citizenship and commitment for a quality school.
As a reminder, during the school year 2016-2017, Kandia Camara had instituted the resumption of classes on Wednesday morning in public and private primary education, due to various deficiencies found in the education system.
