Yohann le Ferrand : Yeko

Article written in collaboration with ArtSixMic from Paris

Composer/arranger, Yohann Le Ferrand is a versatile artist who has participated in numerous projects and shows. For years he has played alongside the best African musicians such as Tiken Jah Fakoly, Inna Modja or Rokia Traoré.

In September, he released the album Yeko with duets with the best artists from West Africa. First excerpt, here is Yerna Fassé with the singer now deceased Khaïra Arby.

At the same time pop and funky, the trans of the percussion of the desert, the riffs of brass and the Peul violin carry an effective refrain of which only the traditional music has the secret. With an angelic voice, Khaïra Arby gives us this final title before her disappearance in 2018. There she sang a unified Mali in peace and sharing among the ethnic groups.

“Yeko, the album of Yohann the Ferrand. Both pop and funky, the trans of the percussion of the desert, whose only traditional music has the secret”.

The album Yeko looks like a series of musical portraits of African artists and it unveils its first title “Yerna Fassè”. The Breton guitarist returns from his African travels with this new album, the result of exciting musical encounters with musicians from Mali.
