Congolese international artist Fally Ipupa received the “Artist 2020 Africa RADIO” award this Friday, December 18, 2020. The award was presented in the program “Ambiance Africa” presented by star host Aïssa Thiam. This award, initiated by African radio, rewards African personalities every year. 

Who is Fally Ipupa? Fally Ipupa Nsimba aka Fally Ipupa, was born on 14 December 1977 in Kinshasa. He is a singer, dancer, songwriter-performer and producer. Originally from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he mixes African musical styles such as soukous and ndombolo with a real dose of clothing inherited from sapology to the Congolese very appreciated by the fashion world. 

From an early age, Fally Ipupa was noticed for his charisma and his talents as a performer in a religious choir first and despite a stutter that did not prevent him from becoming the artist of notoriety that he became today. The young prodigy joined several bands but it was the meeting with the renowned singer Koffi Olomidé that propelled him to the stage. 

After a group debut with the Latin Quarter, he began a great solo career in the 2000s. He signed with the label Obouo Music. His first album, «Droit Chemin» was released on the market with a real success with a gold record. On 7 April 2007, he performed at the Olympia in Paris. 

Fally Ipupa is the winner of the Best Central African Artist Award at the Kora Awards. In 2011, he was awarded the MTV Europe Music Awards and the BET Awards. In 2013, he signed with the label AZ under Universal Music, a collaboration that allows him to participate in cultural events with stars like Snoop Doggy Dogg. That same year, he inaugurated his foundation, which helps the poorest in his country of origin, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As a reminder, 2020 remains for the artist, a special year, he gathered 20,000 people on February 28 at the AccorHotel Arena ex-Bercy, in a context of health crisis. He is one of the 50 most influential Africans in the 2020 ranking published by Jeune Afrique. 

In summary, Fally Ipupa is 5 albums to his credit including Tokooos released in 2017 and certified gold disc. An opus carried by unpublished singles like «Kiname» with the Franco-Senegalese rapper Booba, «Na Lingui Fé» with the Franco-Guinean rapper MHD, «Bad Bod» feat the Franco-Malian Aya Nakamura and even the American rapper R.Kelly on the piece «Nidja».

Never two without three, Fally Ipupa is back with his 5th album “Tokooos II” just released this Friday, December 18, 2020. An album with mixed rhythms imbued with traditional Congolese rumba and ndombolo sounds with a clever mix of “urban pop”. This album still shows the generosity of the artist, it is rich in collaboration with notably Ninho SD
T, Naza, Mr Pokora or Dadju.
In the meantime, we can say that Fally Ipupa Nsimba is one of the most talented artists of his generation adored all over the continent. 

This award recognizes his talent and professionalism in the field of African culture.For more than 20 years the artist has generously shared his know-how but also his time and money to the most needy. He loves his country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Fally is simply the one who advocates love and peace. 

This “Artist 2020 Africa RADIO” award is more than deserved for this heartfelt artist who never stops showing and demonstrating his talent and his love for his audience.
