Anger has mounted among the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese abroad. According to the Senegalese newspaper “Source A”, the action of Minister Aïssata Tall Sall, who appointed relatives or members of her family to positions of responsibility, is not to the liking of the staff. Two appointments are indexed: it concerns the choice of an intern to assume the status of assistance of the protocol and the appointment of Yacine Tall, the minister’s sister, to occupy the function of private secretary.
It is a total imbroglio within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese abroad. For good reason, some of Aïssata Tall Sall’s collaborators, the head of Senegalese diplomacy, criticized her for installing her relatives in positions of responsibility without specifying the reasons. According to the newspaper “Source A”, the workers of the ministry did not want to appear to raise the question directly. But, some, on condition of anonymity, have still explained what it is exactly. “Ndeye Meissa Guèye was an intern at the ministry, before the arrival of the former minister Amadou Ba. She was not appointed, she is still an intern. It is only at the level of our ministry that we have people who are interns for years, ”a staff member at the newspaper.
“There were comments about the status of Ndeye Meissa Guèye and the lady who managed the protocol of Amadou Ba. According to him, when Aissata Tall Sall came, we replaced the other who was there . It was Ndeye Meissa Guèye who managed the interim as protocol assistant. The person who was there returned to the management. I learned that she was appointed at the level of the management of the protocol to a position of responsibility. “, continued the same source.
Regarding, moreover, the case of Yacine Tall, the minister’s sister, the thesis of political appointment is mentioned to justify the function of private secretary that she now occupies. This practice is considered customary by ministers who have occupied this department in recent years. The head of Senegalese diplomacy has not yet commented on the subject despite the grinding of teeth from the staff of the “lioness of Podor”.
