Former goalkeeper of the Senegal team, Bouna Coundoul, gave an interview to 13 TV, an opportunity for him to talk about the current goalkeeper of the national team, Edouard Mendy. Coundoul is convinced that Chelsea’s current goalkeeper is the best in his position across the African continent.

Bouna Coundoul, a Senegalese goalkeeper who left the national team in 2015, told 13 TV: “I am the Premier League. Anyone who doesn’t play Chelsea […] The best African goalkeeper is Senegalese, Mendy still put Kepa on the bench.”

Edouard Mendy, 28, arrived in Chelsea this 2020/2021 season and managed to win the title at the expense of Kepa Arrizabalaga. In addition to being the only African goalkeeper in the English championship, he continues to perform well even if his team struggles to keep up with Liverpool or Manchester United.Frank Lampard, the manager of the Blues, is seduced by the serenity and constancy of the Senegalese goalkeeper.
