SENEGAL – Demonstrations in Senegal: Baye Cheikh Diop rests in Thiaroye cemetery

Baye Cheikh Diop, the 17-year-old mechanic was killed Thursday March 04, 2021 by the Senegalese national police in Yeumbeul a locality located in the Dakar suburb of Thiaroye. This sad event happened during the demonstrations that followed the arrest of Pastef Les Patriotes leader Ousmane Sonko. The mechanic now rests in the Thiaroye Kao cemetery.

The young man was working quietly in his mechanical workshop, suddenly when he received a deadly projectile on the forehead confirmed by the medical certificate. The autopsy performed on the deceased shows a frontal traumatic wound, and a fracture of the skull, with internal and external depression.

Baye Cheikh Diop was accompanied by a huge crowd during his funeral. You could read the sadness on each other’s faces. Her family was left in shock as they couldn’t stomach the loss of such a loved one

The Movement for the Defense of Democracy (M2D), for its part, held a press conference on Tuesday, March 09, 2021. It demanded that light be shed on the death of all these young people who fell during the demonstrations and the unconditional release detainees in this case.
Note that these demonstrations caused 11 deaths and more than 500 injuries.
