Idrissa Seck takes a sober approach to the Social and Environmental Economic Council (EESC). The former Prime Minister, who has been in France for several weeks, introduced a policy of austerity in his cabinet.

According to Guestuinfo sources, Idrissa Seck decided to abandon the purchase of vehicles that the former EESC President Aminata Touré had hired for the members of her cabinet.Even the vehicles and offices, which were rented out for the institution’s staff, were abandoned, and the contracts terminated.

Rewmi’s leader justifies his decision by the “pandemic context” that Senegal is going through. According to our sources, Idrissa Seck asked his staff to use their own vehicle while waiting for the “economic crisis to be overcome”.

In fact, this year’s capital budget has been drastically reduced. Consequently, the EESC currently operates only with its operating budget (staff salary, allowance for advisers.).The reason? “Resources have been reallocated as part of the fight against the 3rd wave of Covid-19 contamination.” , confides our interlocutor.

It should be recalled that the 2021 budget of the EESC increased by 981.146 million CFA francs. This amount was initially intended for the acquisition of vehicles, computer and audiovisual equipment and the consideration of the upward revision of the allowances for advisers.
